How Pot Roast got its tan
Three tries, one sunburned plant and a bottle of SPF 420: the story behind the Pot Roast design.

Some designs show up fully formed. Pot Roast took three tries.
Try one: dinner
The obvious version was the dish itself: a big Sunday pot roast, carrots and all. It looked delicious. It also looked like a recipe card. Funny names need a picture that does some of the joke, and a plate of beef was just a plate of beef.
Try two: the roast
Then we went the other way: a comedy roast, a little plant at a podium taking jokes from the crowd. Closer. But you had to stare at it to get it, and a good design should land from across the room.
Try three: the beach
The one that stuck was the simplest. A potted plant in a terracotta pot, stretched out in a beach chair, sunglasses on, soaking it all up. It's a pot. It's roasting. Done.
To make it feel like something you'd find in a beach bag in 1975, we put the whole scene on a vintage suntan lotion bottle, sun rays and all, with a starburst that says SPF 420.

Pot Roast is one of our twelve Evergreens, each one in its own vintage style. It's on tees, long sleeves, hoodies, trucker hats and mugs, for anyone who takes their downtime seriously.
